The Classroom of the Future Foundation (CFF) has combined the excitement of the hit show “Shark Tank” and the need to support innovative San Diego County superintendents to create an event called “Supe Tank“. Our Supe Tank 4.0 event on October 24, 2024, will be followed by a New Superintendent Welcome Reception to introduce the community to the San Diego County Office of Education’s new Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Gloria Ciriza. Supe Tank is a unique way for superintendents to share innovation that is taking place in our 43 school districts by pitching their project—a program, initiative or idea—to a room full of potential partners. Superintendents participating in Supe Tank are given 5 minutes to pitch an innovation from their district. Previous presentations resulted in several partner connections for our San Diego County school districts, including one district receiving $100,000 for their pitch. CFF’s Supe Tank 4.0—presented by SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union—will be hosted by the University of San Diego on Thursday, October 24 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Industry partners, educators, and community leaders are invited to learn about the innovation in our school districts. They will be given the opportunity to meet with the presenting superintendents at a reception after pitches. The hope is that school leaders and industry leaders will come together and form their own partnerships around some of the ideas presented. Following the Supe Tank presentations will be the New Superintendent Welcome Reception where the community will be introduced to the new San Diego County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Gloria Ciriza. Dr. Ciriza was appointed to her role at the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) in July 2024. She previously served as the assistant superintendent of Student Services and Programs at SDCOE, which includes the Juvenile Court and Community Schools, Special Education, Student Support, Student Wellness and School Culture, Whole Child and Community Design, and Outdoor Education departments. This month, Aaron Bowen, Angel René Wilson, and Francis Blume will share original music performed in a Nashville-style round hosted by the legendary Jeff Berkley. A full-time honors English major and law student at San Diego Mesa College, Angel René Wilson balances rigorous academics with his roles as a performer, writer, and founder of MARTYR, a local music and arts production company. He is currently working on his debut album, a book, and a short film, all set for release in 2025, while planning to transfer to UCLA in the fall. Aaron Bowen, a Southern California native, blends acoustic jazz and folk with a European flair, evoking Django Reinhardt and Paul Simon. With four generations of musicians in his family, Aaron's decade-long career as a songwriter and producer has flourished. Besides performing and producing, he builds unique electric guitars, inspired by his mentor at High Spirit Guitars in San Diego. Aaron's mission is to create and share authentic music and instruments, inspiring others to be true to themselves. Francis Blume, a singer/songwriter from Vista, CA, crafts a vintage sound that transports listeners to a nostalgic era. Drawing inspiration from icons like Roy Orbison and Elvis, his music blends heartfelt emotion with the charm of the 1950s and 60s.
