A native of San Diego’s South Bay, his upbringing between borders shaped his fronterizo perspective. He began his education at Southwestern College before earning degrees in Sociology and Chicano Studies from UC San Diego. He later completed graduate studies at the University of Notre Dame under the mentorship of Dr. Julian Samora. Pulido’s research explores the intersection of Chicana/o/x communities, spirituality, and cultural expression. His award-winning work on Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Logan Heights is among his important works of scholarship.
