  • Date/Time: October 25, 2025 (Saturday) @ 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Place: Officer Jeremy Henwood Memorial Park 3795 Fairmount Ave. (next to library.) The Dia de los Muertos festival is an important day to celebrate cultural pride in its many manifestations. When performances start, the giant garage-like door of the Performance Annex rises, and the music spills out from the stage and swells throughout the crowd nearby on the park lawn. Dancers grace the stage, and lyrical or staccato rhythms vibrate. Ever popular, Victoria Mariachi, and Rick and Friends return. There is dance for every taste from San Diego Ballet to Aztec Dancers. Theater lovers of all ages will be treated to The Old Globe and Fern St. Circus. Youth participate in a drum lesson with Drummers Without Borders, and a drum parade follows with colorful giant banners, inviting all to join. Family and community altars abound. There will be a Fun Zone for young ones with bouncy “houses.” Paper mask making activities for all ages is hosted by San Diego Guild of Puppetry. On Tuesday, December 16 from 4-8 p.m., L’Auberge Del Mar will welcome guests and their pups to their Living Room Bar (1540 Camino Del Mar, Del Mar, CA 92014) for an evening of holiday cheer in support of this meaningful mission. There will even be a special “cocktail” on the menu created just for the dogs. Guests will enjoy live music, an ugly sweater contest, special moments with Shelter to Soldier’s Canine Ambassadors, and an opportunity drawing featuring unique items from local businesses. About Shelter to Soldier: Shelter to Soldier is a nonprofit organization that adopts dogs from local shelters and trains them to become service dogs for post 9/11 veterans suffering from PTSD, TBI, Military Sexual Trauma, and or other injuries associated with traumatic service experiences. The program also places emotional support animals (ESAs) with active-duty military and veterans, as well as deploys the Shelter to Soldier Canine Ambassadors, a team of therapy dogs and their volunteer handlers, to provide visits of love and comfort to local military, veterans, and their families.
