  • Discover the artistic synergy of San Diego artists Susie Zol and Denise Cerro in their latest exhibition, "2 Artists 2 Mediums". This show features original ceramics pieces and paintings, showcasing their shared journey and creative evolution. Susie transforms her abstracted portraits into ceramics, while Denise reimagines her mixed media paintings with clay and glazes. Susie and Denise have painted together in several artist studios in San Diego through the years, and are currently members of the F1VEart Studio & Gallery as well as the Creative Academy where they create ceramic works, both in the Arts District of Liberty Station. These two artist simultaneously turned their creative interest towards clay and ceramics and rather than turning from painting on canvas, they each have found their own way of combining the two mediums.   • Learn the Art of Intarsia Woodworking! Saturday, May 10 or August 16, from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Join us in the woodshop for this 5-hour intarsia woodworking workshop! Intarsia is a woodworking technique that involves the use of varied shapes of wood to create an image or pattern. In this class, we will cover shop safety and how to use a scroll saw, as well as best practices for sanding and finishing. Students will choose from a template to transfer to their wood, creating a mosaic-like decorative wall piece. Template options will be provided, and may be altered and edited based on skill level. At the end of the workshop, each student will leave with their own intarsia project. Materials are provided. We recommend students bring their own eye protection, ear protection & apron, but we have some for borrow if needed. Aprons for sale here. No experience necessary. Ages 18+ welcome.
