  • FilmOut San Diego will be presenting the 25th Annual FilmOut San Diego LGBTQ Film Festival August 21-24, 2025. We are one of the longest-running film festivals in Southern California and the only LGBTQ film festival in the San Diego area. Our festival is well-respected in the film community and often have World and U.S. premieres. People from around the world attend the festival as we offer filmmakers Q&A sessions after most films. Interviews with filmmakers and talent are uploaded to social media platforms for maximum exposure. We also have a fantastic Opening Night gala and Closing Night reception each year. This year our annual San Diego LGBTQ Film Festival will be a four-day event that includes international, documentary, short and feature films shown in two different locations. As always, we strive to show the newest LGBTQ-themed film selections available.   • This class meets weekly on either Tuesdays from 4-6 p.m. &/or Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., 3-4 times each month Ages 13-18 years welcome! Lead instructor, Steffi Dotson, teaches this class that covers the properties of wood, machine safety and woodworking basics. Students will learn a mix of woodworking techniques, including hand tools and safe practice of machine operations. Depending on the specific project, joinery techniques, proper sanding and finishing are part of the curriculum. Each attendee will make their own project. Because safety is top priority, and each student works at their own speed, students are not always guaranteed to finish a project within the month-long class series. We encourage enrolling for multiple months to keep learning more skills. All materials are included. Event highlights include live music from Liquid Blue and a thrilling live auction. Each ticket provides access to an array of exclusive perks and captivating experiences, including complimentary valet, a three-course seated dinner, fine wines from Adobe Road Winery in Napa Valley, a hosted bar, world-class entertainment, exciting surprises, and new exhibits showcasing classic and exotic cars. This year,  the “Party in the Park” will honor Dr. Steve and Lynne Wheeler and will be co-chaired by Reena Horowitz, Jill Berg, and Dr. Tess Mauricio. The evening will include a special presentation of the Titan Philanthropy Award to Paula Abdul and Ray Brock. The “Party in the Park” has raised nearly $3 million to support the San Diego Automotive Museum and its programs, including the IGNITE Academy, since 2021. This innovative program combines career exploration, independent research, and skill-building through project-based hands-on learning to prepare students for internships and other pathways towards successful careers in the automotive industry.  The IGNITE program is ideal for students in high school, who are not four-year bound, and provides mentorship, guidance, and early career exposure and experience, all at no cost to the students.  Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available now.
