Aztec Brewing Company has partnered with local signer/songwriter Jack Tempchin who wrote the iconic Eagles song "Peaceful Easy Feeling," to create a new line of collaboration brews inspired by the song. To celebrate the release we are having a concert featuring Jack and special guests. Learn to needle felt! Saturday, July 12, from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. Have you ever wished you’d stumble upon a tiny fairy house while walking in a deep forest? Join felting artist Sophie Ancel in this 3-hour workshop where you’ll learn to make your own little house using needle felting techniques. Students will use natural wool roving and batting, felt, beads and simple embroidery. The class requires the use of sharp felting needles and we will cover how to safely use felting needles. Guards will also be provided. Each student will have the option of creating a tiny home equipped with a door, window, and decorated with flowers and leaves. This little home can be used as a box as the roof can act as a lid! You will be given a tiny light for added fairy house magic. No experience necessary. Ages 12+ welcome. Children will explore diverse art forms and dance styles from different cultures, learning about the rich traditions and history behind them. From the vibrant colors of Mexican folk art to the energetic rhythms of African dance, students will have the opportunity to create their own artwork, try new dance moves, and discover how art and dance connect people across the globe. Students will showcase their artwork and dance skills in a short performance on the final day of class. Families outside of Wild Sage are welcome to join us as well – if the Wednesday schedule fits your needs, feel free to register. Come make a wish! A FREE, Family event. The ribbon cutting for the butterfly maze at Chollas Lake will be from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday March 22nd celebrating Spring Equinox. It will be a Sharing... meaning that you bring something to share. That could be food, beverage or you play music or plant a flower in the butterfly garden or something else… The name of this interactive installation is "The Wishing Machine." It is an extension of my body of work: Urban Succession. It is a maze made of raised planter boxes that are filled with butterfly flowers. The center of the maze is a wishing well. Around 300 students from Patrick Henry High researched the ecosystem of Chollas Lake and illustrated their studies onto the sides of the boxes. I hand made the bricks of the wishing well and painted the words wishing well in the 6 main languages of City Heights. (Under the roof is “The Secret Sky”) Many people and organizations have collaborated in the making of this project. Lumber Cycle donated the wood, Biology Through Art donated the paint, and City Farmers Nursery donated the soil.
