Aztec Brewing Company has partnered with local signer/songwriter Jack Tempchin who wrote the iconic Eagles song "Peaceful Easy Feeling," to create a new line of collaboration brews inspired by the song. To celebrate the release we are having a concert featuring Jack and special guests. Learn to needle felt! Saturday, July 12, from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. Have you ever wished you’d stumble upon a tiny fairy house while walking in a deep forest? Join felting artist Sophie Ancel in this 3-hour workshop where you’ll learn to make your own little house using needle felting techniques. Students will use natural wool roving and batting, felt, beads and simple embroidery. The class requires the use of sharp felting needles and we will cover how to safely use felting needles. Guards will also be provided. Each student will have the option of creating a tiny home equipped with a door, window, and decorated with flowers and leaves. This little home can be used as a box as the roof can act as a lid! You will be given a tiny light for added fairy house magic. No experience necessary. Ages 12+ welcome. In this class, children will explore their favorite superhero themes while engaging in fun activities, like drawing, painting, and crafting their very own superhero costumes. By learning dance routines inspired by superhero powers, they will build coordination, strength, and confidence along the way. With a focus on creativity, self-expression, and teamwork, Superheroes: Art & Dance is a fantastic way for young kids to exercise their imagination and dance skills in the Athenaeum’s La Jolla Studio. During our five-day art camp, we will have fun making art while learning about art from many places around the world. You will make your own Mexican piñata, paint a Chinese dragon, fold Japanese origami, paint a mythical Persian bird, paint an ancient Egyptian cat, create a San Diego collage, and draw and paint Australian tropical fish. We will use watercolor and acrylic paints, origami and decorative papers, tissue paper, crayons, markers, and pencils. Ribbon Cutting Ceremony February 27 at 9 a.m., Oceanside Campus, Chemistry/Biotechnology Building (OC13) RSVP for this state-of-the-art facility features cutting-edge chemistry and biotechnology labs along with two flexible 40-seat classrooms to support student learning. As our Biotechnology program expands, this building will provide much-needed space for growth and serve as a key part of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) quad and plaza.

This course explores using stop motion animation to tell a story. Children will create their own characters, backgrounds, and sets using drawing, painting, collage, and even found objects. After storyboarding and planning, students will use photography and audio recordings to bring their story to life.
