Still-life painting is the study of everyday objects that take on a new life, tell a story and can act as a portal to another place or time. Emphasis in this class will be on an impressionist technique of painting using an alla prima (wet into wet) style of painting, keeping loose brushwork, thick paint, and eliminating detail. We will cover composition, color, form, and lighting. There will be a setup for each class along with photo images to create from. I do a painting demonstration in each class. One of our exercises will be a personal still life using objects that have meaning for us. The best part is that we will have fun as we share our discoveries together. Come join us! In this comprehensive class, students will learn the intricate art of staining porcelain and using colored clay to craft stunning patterns and one-of-a-kind pieces. The class will cover all aspects of the technique from coloring and preparing porcelain, learning how to build a variety of patterns and learning how to form and structure pieces. This course is designed for both beginners and intermediate ceramic enthusiasts incorporating a selection of hand-building techniques as well as tips for wheel-throwing with the patterns. "The Pirates of Penzance" follows the story of Frederic, a young man mistakenly apprenticed to a band of soft-hearted pirates. As he completes his term of service, he vows to dedicate himself to eradicating piracy—until a technicality binds him to the pirates indefinitely. Along the way, he encounters the beautiful Mabel, her eccentric father, Major-General Stanley, and a bumbling squad of police officers who are more charming than effective.
