The Comic-Con Art Show is open to the public... you do not need a badge to come in and enjoy, or purchase artwork. However, everyone entering the Art Show is expected to comply with all Terms and Conditions expected of our attendees. You’ll see numerous original drawings, paintings, sculptures, pieces of jewelry, and more “unusual” items, all created and displayed by professional and amateur artists. If you want to add something to your collection, many of the pieces are offered for purchase by Silent Auction* or Quick-Sale. Bidder numbers and Art Show information can be obtained from the administration table inside the Art Show. You must be 18 or older and have legal identification to purchase artwork, and payments may be made with cash or a credit card. The Art Show also displays the nominated books and comics for this year’s Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards. Come and see the best new works of the year! For your convenience, the Art Show is open one hour after the Exhibit Floor closes on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday to make it easier to bid on or pick up your art. Hours: Thursday: 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Friday: 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday: 9 a.m. –6 p.m. Sunday: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. *Silent Auction Final bidding closes Saturday at 6 p.m. Winning bids are posted at 9 a.m. Sunday morning. Join us for a weekly Carving Club at San Diego Craft Collective. Hone your wood carving skills in a supportive environment of fellow carvers. The Craft Collective offers carvers of varying skill levels a place to meet to create their own spoons or other carved items. Hand tools will be available for use during club meeting time. Carving Club is suitable for those who have completed the Introduction to spoon carving course, or have some previous carving experience. Purchase a full month of Monday evenings or drop-in at your convenience! We will supply materials and carving tools, but if you have your own, please bring them. If you’d like to purchase or bring your own tools, the following tools are what the instructor recommends for carving a simple spoon: -1” #5 sweep gouge -1.5” #3 sweep gouge -1/2” #8 sweep gouge -straight carving knife -slightly curved carving knife Ages 14+ welcome. This workshop is designed for City of San Diego residents and will be detailing rebates and discount programs, how to harvest rainwater in your household, and the best way to use your new rain barrel. In this workshop we will cover: • The purpose and environmental benefits of rain barrels and rain harvesting • Downspouts and connection to rain barrels • Rain chains in connection with the rain barrels • Hands-on demonstration of installing a rain barrel • Maintenance of the rain barrel • How to empty the rainwater from the barrel during the rainy season for capacity City of San Diego residents are eligible for discounted rain barrels thanks to discounts offered by the City of San Diego this rainy season!* Rain barrels are $22 each for City of San Diego residents after the $75 discount (original price $97.)
