Concert Hour is a music enrichment series presented on the campus of Palomar College for our students, staff, and community by the Palomar College Performing Arts Department. Enjoy a range of exciting artists and musicians in the beautiful Howard Brubeck Theatre or Performance Lab D-10. The program is presented weekly during the Fall and Spring Semesters at 1 p.m. and ends at approximately 2 p.m. Admission and Parking are FREE. This Week’s Performing Arts Will Be Located in Performance Lab D -10 Alyze Dreiling was born in Detroit, Michigan. She began her violin studies with Mischa Mischakoff .The Detroit Symphony and the Music Study Club of Metropolitan Detroit sponsored her education with Mischakoff. Ms. Dreiling graduated from Indiana University where she studied with Josef Gingold. She holds a BM in Violin Performance from Indiana University and MA from United States International University with an emphasis on Orchestral Performance. Ms. Dreiling was an invited semi- finalist in the European Union Conducting Competition in 2018. She has attended masterclasses with Zoltan Rozsnyai, Gunther Neuhold,, Neil Thomson and Dr. Scott Weiss and Philip Greenberg. Ms. Dreiling was the founding Artistic Director and Conductor of Classics for Kids and currently is Artistic Director and the Emeritus Conductor of YPO Festival Orchestra, Soloists Ensemble and Soloists Sinfonietta and was recently awarded 3nd prize in the American Prize Competition in the conductor of youth orchestra division. Known for their iconic mix of industrial, electro, and dance music, Lords of Acid has been shaking the foundations of the music world since the early '90s. Their live shows are notorious for their energy, boundary-pushing visuals, and relentless dance grooves. This tour marks a monumental chapter in the band’s long-standing legacy and a new chapter as former Butcher Babies singer Carla Harvey joins the band. "I had three favorite bands in high school: Guns N’ Roses, Pantera and Lords of Acid. Each one shaped me and uniquely influenced me as an artist. LOA had me hooked from the moment I heard “I Sit On Acid” as a teenager dancing the night away at Detroit’s goth Industrial Haven City Club. My obsession with LOA only grew after I saw Coop’s artwork on the cover of “Voodoo U”. Now I get to record an album and go on tour with my industrial heroes! Pinch 16 year old me! Born in Riverside, Calif., to Mexican parents, Cornejo epitomizes the modern música mexicana artist. He has embraced the traditional instruments, including the requinto and other acoustic guitars, that have long powered the regional Mexican sound, but has also given the enduring genre an alternative edge, incorporating electric guitars and darker, emo-like lyrics for a sad sierreño approach that has connected with his young and zealous fan base. “A lot of my influences came from regional Mexican, but it is hard to just identify as just that,” says Cornejo, who broke out in 2021 with his first single, “Está Dañada (She Is Damaged),” which landed him a No. 1 entry on Billboard’s Latin Songwriters chart dated Oct. 30, 2021, while also becoming the second regional Mexican song to appear on the all-genre Hot 100. “All the genres that I listen to, like country and rock, have inspired me. Whether you’re a beginner or intending to deepen your relationship, all are welcome to experience the world of clay in this fun and friendly environment. By focusing on techniques to confidently create functional and aesthetic pottery, we will learn creative design, how to throw on the wheel, trimming and glazing! Projects will be ready to pick up 1-2 weeks after the last class. Beginners welcome.
