Join Museum educators for a special workshop inspired by the practice of sobremesa, cherished by artist Alfredo Castañeda. Sobremesa refers to the moments when a meal extends into lingering conversation, when guests talk, listen to music, and reflect on life and ideas. This workshop invites participants to gather in community, engage in both prompted and organic conversation, and take part in an art-making activity inspired by Castañeda’s work and practice. Poetry and storytelling, central to Castañeda’s sobremesas, will guide the flow of dialogue, sparking creativity and connection. The 36th Annual Wildlife Show promises to be an extraordinary event, featuring more than just amazing art. We are also celebrating the success of two consecutive exhibitions, "Wildlife in Art" and a concurrent digital art/photography "Wildlife in Art" online show. The San Diego Children’s Choir (SDCC), a community-based nonprofit dedicated to inspiring young singers through high quality choral music education and performance, is bringing the joy of the holidays to San Diego with festive concerts. 35th Anniversary Celebration Holiday Sing-Along and Winter Concert Teaser FREE! In addition to its advanced ensemble program, SDCC offers early childhood music classes, provides school outreach in Title I schools, and regularly collaborates with leading arts organizations such as the San Diego Symphony and San Diego Opera. Open Studio at the Athenaeum Art Center invites local printmakers and artists to utilize the equipment and space in the printmaking studio. Prior knowledge in printmaking and equipment familiarity is required as open studio time is not for learning a new printmaking process or one on one lessons. The Athenaeum Art Center offers printmaking courses throughout the year for those wanting to learn a new craft or wanting to enhance their art practice. Open Studio is free for everyone.
