Thursday, April 18 — 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Learn the easiest way to paint beautiful florals and garden friends using the simple technique of brushstroke painting! It all comes down to exactly how to load your brush and then apply that to your surface. I will show you how to get that opaque look using a series of basic strokes that you build up together to get one cohesive look. In this class, you will learn how to use a round brush for every stroke to create pansies and a dragonfly. We will practice on my special reusable worksheets, and then move on to our project surface of a wooden Easter egg that you can display to showcase your work! All materials are included to complete the class. Come learn a new skill and bring out your creative side this year! Enjoy complimentary snacks and beverages. Join us at the Visitor Center to learn what it means to build a natural garden that is beautiful, sustainable, and functional, and how to do it. A well-planned garden can be a representation of nature and continually provide valuable habitat for birds, beneficial pollinators, and other wildlife species. Mike Evans, an authority on California native plants, will be at Mission Trails to discuss the important role that native plants can play in home landscapes, and share ideas on how to bring the beauty of the park to your yard. Emphasis will be on how to design a home garden that incorporates native plants found in the park. Come hear the practical "how-to" for making or caring for your very own "re-wild" garden. Mike Evans is the founder and president of Tree of Life Nursery (TOLN) in San Juan Capistrano and has produced and sold California native plants for 45 years. TOLN is the largest native plant supplier in California and promotes a style of authentic horticulture, specifically the concept of appropriate landscaping with native California plants. This event has been organized by Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation, the nonprofit that supports the park. Many people find Modern Calligraphy attractive to learn because it allows them to create beautiful, fun, and hand-crafted letters that are unique and personal. Modern Calligraphy is often characterized by its use of thick and thin lines, giving the letters a dynamic and expressive quality.
