Join thousands of San Diegans at Balboa Park on Saturday, October 18, 2025 for Walk4ALZ, the region’s largest annual fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care and research, hosted by Alzheimer’s San Diego. The 2.75-mile walk begins at 8 a.m. (festival area opens at 6:30 a.m., opening ceremony at 7:45 a.m.) and raises critical funds to support the 100,000 local people living with dementia and their caregivers. Registration is free, and every dollar raised stays in San Diego County to provide support groups, caregiver resources, educational classes, and research funding. Participants can register individually or as part of a team, and anyone outside San Diego can also join virtually by walking “anytime, anywhere” that weekend. Two exhibitions at Mingei International Museum celebrate Midcentury folk art, craft, and design. “Inside the Design Center” brings to life a vignette of mid-twentieth century interior, lighting, and furniture design from Ilse Ruocco’s 1950 showroom in Hillcrest, San Diego. “Boundless” showcases nearly 150 objects from Mingei’s permanent collection, exploring Southern California landscapes through the work of mid-twentieth century ceramicists. The Lupus Research Alliance is hosting its annual “2025 San Diego Walk with Us to Cure Lupus” event Saturday, November 22, 2025. This in-person fundraising event is a fantastic opportunity to connect with others in the community who are passionate about finding a cure for this debilitating autoimmune disease. Also included are inspiring speakers, light refreshments, fun festivities, and a Kids Zone. All are welcome. Of special note -- 100% of all donations goes to support lupus research programs because the Lupus Research Alliance Board of Directors funds all administrative and fundraising costs.
