  • You’re never too old! Create your own fuzzy Monster! Instructor Rene Rubalcava Ages 12+ years or children 6-11 years if accompanied by an adult welcome! Create a professional arm-rod-and-mouth puppet of your very own from Rene Rubalcava, owner and puppeteer of LV Puppet Studio of Las Vegas who learned the art of puppet making from a Jim Henson Muppeteer. There’s no better time to create your own one-of-a-kind fuzzy monster! In this workshop, we guide you from start to finish as you select, cut, hot glue and assemble the pieces and personality of your own customized puppet. No sewing is required in this workshop. Students bring their puppets to life with their own unique interests and imaginations, and by choice and placement of different face details. Each one is unique! Find your puppet’s voice and learn some puppetry basics. All materials included.   • 4 Mondays from 6 – 8 p.m. April 29, May 6, 13, 27 In this 4-week series, students will learn the fun and meditative practice of kurinuki. We will explore the Japanese technique of carving yunomi cups. Working with mid fire clay, students will complete multiple projects and be able to utilize a wide array of glazes and colors throughout the course. All materials provided.   • Learn to make a basket made from long leaf pine needles, using waxed Irish linen, an assortment of beads or other embellishments, starting with a stone center. Topics to be covered include the differences between pine needle types, preparing the needles, waxed Irish linen, basket centers, embellishing your basket, and how to start and how to finish your basket. Students have the option to weave a basket, a pendant, or an ornament. Basket Weaving is a wonderful way to recycle from nature and is also a meditative activity. No experience necessary.   • NOVO Brazil Brewing Company is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at its Chula Vista headquarters and taproom on Friday, March 15 starting at 5:30 p.m. Enjoy live music from rock, punk, and blues band The Agents of Apollo until 7:30 p.m. Then at 8 p.m., DJ Qenoe takes over. Food vendors for the evening include San Diego favorite Cali BBQ, along with Rico Rico Snack Bar and El Rey Tacos a Vapor. In addition to (green) beer selections, hard and non-alcoholic kombucha from NOVO’s sister brand NOVA will also be available.
