He is a food process engineer, a chef with 15+ years of experience, and a hardcore food geek. In 2023, Taras moved from Ukraine to the U.S., and brings his Ukrainian flavors at his cafe. Cooking isn’t just a job for Taras — it’s a damn obsession. He dives deep into ingredients, techniques, stories, and the rituals behind every dish. If you think food is just something to eat, Taras is here to blow that idea out of the water. Cooking with Taras is an experience you do not want to miss - it’s gonna be tasty, wild, and full of flavor. Homeland Kitchen is Slavic Refugee and Immigrant Services Organization’s newest initiative that brings the rich culinary traditions of Ukraine and Eastern Europe into the homes of food enthusiasts around the world. This unique program connects talented Ukrainian and Eastern European chefs with supporters of the organization through immersive, online cooking classes held monthly. Proceeds from the class will go towards the organization and the chef. The program culminates in a powerful finale: the unveiling of Hugo Crosthwaite’s 2025 Camarada art commission, inspired by Andrés Martín’s "Tango Bajo el Agua," which will be performed alongside the artwork. This deeply personal piece explores the dual nature of water as both life-giving and potentially destructive. Martín invites us to consider a striking metaphor: if we can learn to tango underwater, we can find beauty even in the most unlikely or challenging places.
