Join us on October 5 as we celebrate the inaugural San Diego Climate Week at Coastal Roots Farm in Encinitas, CA, with the free premiere of "The Threads Between Us." Produced by local sustainability agency thinkPARALLAX, the film explores the connections that weave San Diego’s sustainable business community together — from Dr. Bronner’s to Jimbo’s Naturally to Goodwill Industries at San Diego County. Upcycle Your Own Item! Learn to Carve & Block Print! Thursday, December 4, 6-8 p.m. Have you ever wanted to print your own designs on shirts and bags?! In this 2-hour workshop, you’ll learn the art of relief printing! Students will learn to design and carve their own linoleum stamp and block print an image onto fabric. We invite you to upcycle fabric from your own wardrobe or home for this class, so grab a well-loved favorite item or something that could use a fun refresh and begin imagining some fun designs you might carve and print! Because this class focuses on upcycling, please bring your own fabric to block print on. This can be clothing, a tote bag or something else. You may bring more than one item and the instructor can help you choose which to print on in class. We recommend you avoid fabrics that are especially thin, like satins and silks. All other tools and materials needed for this class will be supplied for use. This session is all about exploring clay in a relaxed, beginner-friendly environment. Whether you’re a beginner or just looking for a new way to unwind, this open studio setting is a great chance to get your hands messy, meet new people, and let your creativity ring out. All materials are provided, and you’ll get to take home your handmade creation after it’s fired and ready for pick-up in 3-4 weeks.
