Black Friday Artist Market returns to Encanto's Graffiti Gardens for its second year.

All are welcome to the opening reception of the "Many Hands, One Passion" exhibition! Meet the artists, listen to live music, and enjoy light refreshments. The exhibit is curated by the San Diego Potters' Guild and will run from January 13 - April 12. The San Diego Potters' Guild is an association of more than 40 San Diego area potters located in Studio 29 in Balboa Park's historic Spanish Village. The Guild's mission is to foster the common interest and growth of all of its members and to stimulate public interest in the ceramic arts. The Guild is highly committed to giving back to the community by providing various educational opportunities. Studio 29 consists of a front gallery, a work area with potter's wheels, and both electric and gas kilns. The gallery offers a wide variety of high quality handmade functional and decorative wares, and every day you can watch potters at work. Themed shows rotate in our central gallery, and, on the second full weekends in June and November, our semiannual sales fill the Spanish Village patio with thousands of pots. Also, some of our members offer ceramics classes for adults and children, and we sponsor ceramic workshops on a yearly basis. The Guild is open daily, 11a.m. - 4 p.m., except Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Art All Ways Projects proudly presents "Driven to Transform: Art, Service, and the Spirit of Giving," a curated exhibition and fundraising initiative in collaboration with the Warrior Foundation Freedom Station and the Vista Library. Opening Saturday, December 9, the exhibition honors the strength, resilience, and creative voices of Southern California veterans while celebrating the transformative power of contemporary art. The exhibition runs until Jan. 17. Curated by Hoojung Lee, Director/Curator of Art All Ways Projects, the exhibition brings together artists whose work explores transformation, humanity, identity, and renewal through bold visual expression. Featured artists include Retna, Salomon Huerta, Ana Morales-Huerta, Justin Bower, Carlos Ramirez, Umar Rashid, Simphiwe Ndzube, Nyame Brown, Jay Sylvester, Ann Bedrick, Ryan Campbell, Cristopher Cichocki, Juan Carlos Muñoz Hernandez (a.k.a. Heaven), and Zes, alongside veteran artists Wm Marquez (a.k.a. Wm Schinsky), Reginald Green, and Steven Dilley from the Southern California veteran art community. The opening reception will feature a live painting activation by acclaimed graffiti artist Juan Carlos Muñoz Hernandez (a.k.a. Heaven), as well as a collaborative “Transformation Table” where veteran artists and contemporary artists will work together on a large, evolving canvas created specifically for this exhibition. These interactive elements invite visitors to witness creativity in motion and experience the exhibition’s theme of transformation firsthand. Through painting, sculpture, and mixed media, Driven to Transform offers visitors a space to reflect on resilience—both personal and collective—while building meaningful bridges between the arts and the veteran community. A portion of the proceeds from artwork sold during the exhibition will benefit the Warrior Foundation Freedom Station, whose mission is to support, empower, and uplift wounded and injured veterans on their path toward recovery and reintegration into civilian life. Learn to throw ceramics on a wheel! Wednesday evenings, January 7, 14, 21, 28, February 11, with the last class of the series ending a half hour later Learn the fascinating and ancient art form of ceramics with Meg, a full time potter, in this 5-week, weekday evening wheel series. Whether you’re a beginner or intending to deepen your relationship, all are welcome to experience the world of clay in this fun and friendly environment. By focusing on techniques to confidently create functional and aesthetic pottery, we will learn creative design, how to throw on the wheel, trimming and glazing! Projects will be ready to pick up 3-4 weeks after the last class. Beginners welcome.
