Join us for a transformative, liberating experience through the power of art! This in-person event is designed to help you reconnect with your inner niña and express any feelings that may arise. Through various creative activities, we will explore the feelings inside of us, fostering raw self expression and the experience of being held by community. During the workshop, you will have the opportunity to express yourself freely, using various art mediums and techniques. Possible activities so you can have an idea: watercolor, acrylic painting, playing with clay, oil pastels, collaging, poetry. No prior art experience is necessary – just an open heart and a willingness to explore. Discover the joy of reconnecting with your inner niña and unlocking your creativity. This workshop is perfect for anyone seeking personal healing, self-discovery, or an emotional release. This is a space for people who are seeking to be vulnerable and make genuine connections with others. All art supplies will be provided :) 100% of proceeds will go to TODOS SOMOS MIGRANTES, a local nonprofit that serves the migrant community.

Wet felting fun! Saturday, September 6, from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Join us for a creative time around wool and fellowship! In this 3-hour workshop you will learn the ancient art of wet felting — the process of loose wool becoming a fabric (felt). This textile art technique has been used for millenniums in the making of rugs, clothing, and homes (yurts). Instructor Sylviane Collier will demonstrate the technique, taking you step-by-step through the project and providing guidance along the way so you may enjoy the creative process and let your inner artist take the lead. First, you will create your own picture by layering wool fibers (you will have a wide selection of dyed merino wool to choose from) to finish with the binding of all the fibers using a wet felting technique. We will use bamboo mats, water and soap for the felting process. It is not a messy process, just a wet one. Towels will be provided. Each student will create a one-of-a-kind 8”x 8” “painting.” Images of flowers, landscapes and animals will be provided for inspiration. Students are also welcome to bring their own. A material fee of $10 (cash only) to be paid to the instructor at the start of the class. No prior experience necessary. Ages 14+ welcome! Join us in Encinitas for even more ways to interact with contemporary art! Weekly Wellness Saturdays at ICA San Diego / North expands on our 2025-2026 exhibition season theme, "On Healing." The exhibitions are part of a year-long exploration of the ways artists address the various socio-cultural wounds revealed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Similarly, the associated programs and events seek to explore how art can serve as a vital tool for mental, physical, emotional, and community wellbeing. Weekly Wellness Saturdays will take place most Saturdays throughout the year during ICA San Diego’s open hours (Noon – 5 p.m.), and includes: 1–2 p.m.: A rotating healing session hosted by a local facilitator 2:15–3:15 p.m.: A complimentary tour of the current exhibition in its Lower and Upper Pavilions, the outdoor garden, and Sculpture Trail 3:30–4:30 p.m.: A rotating healing session hosted by a local facilitator 12–5 p.m.: An all ages art-making activity related to this year’s "On Healing" season 12–5 p.m.: Complimentary admission to ICA / North’s exhibitions Admission to Weekly Wellness Saturdays at ICA / North is free, and a donation will be suggested for healing activities, and made directly to the facilitator. September 6: 1 p.m.: Breathwork with Suzanne Lederer — This practice helps you connect with the deeper layers of your mind and body, allowing you to bring awareness to and process emotions, stories, and even trauma that may have been stored or hidden in the body. We’ll start by creating personal affirmations – positive statements that shift how you feel about yourself and reinforce your inner strength. Through guided meditation, you’ll practice and embed these affirmations, turning them into powerful tools for daily use. After building your affirmation practice, you’ll relax in the garden as crystal singing bowls, chimes, and rainstick create healing vibrations around you.
