News AssistantHelen Hawes has a degree in English from the University of South Carolina. After a successful career in sales and marketing, Helen started her own business, Bowl of Cherries Art. She is commissioned to create murals and paintings for clients in San Diego as well as around the country and across the globe. She has contributed work to several nonprofits for charity. While her art career blossomed, Helen’s love of story was reignited. She studied Creative Writing at Grossmont College where she received the Editor’s Choice Award for Fiction in the Acorn Review. Because she wants to use her skills to illuminate issues for the public good, she is currently studying Broadcast Communications at City College.
