Study Shows Possible Link Between Breast Cancer and Hormone Use

A new study shows rates of breast cancer between 2002 and 2003 rapidly declined, particularly among older women who stopped using hormones. Cancer rates were shown to decline by 7 percent. Host Gloria

A major study released last month showed a dramatic decline in estrogen receptor positive breast cancer. That’s the most common type of breast cancer, and its growth is fueled by hormones. The decline occurred along with a steep reduction in women’s use of hormones to relieve the symptoms of menopause. Host Gloria Penner talks about the study and the link to hormones with Dr. Neil Hirschenbein of the La Jolla Institute of Comprehensive Medicine.
