California Healthy Pets Act Stirs Controversy

(Photo: iStockphoto.com/ Michael Chen ) Alison St John (Guest Host): Hundreds of organizations and thousands of individuals have sent letters to Sacramento, for and against, a new law that is on its way to the California Senate. What's the big controversy? Whether the state should require most pet owners with a dog or a cat to get them spayed or neutered by the time the pet is four months old. Like anything to do with pets, this one rouses fierce emotions both for and against. And the arguments are not all sentimental; there's a lot of money involved as well.
