YWCA Works to Break the Cycle of Domestic Violence

Tom Fudge: Tomorrow, the San Diego YWCA will open Becky's House 2. As the name suggests, it's a new version of Becky's House 1, which provides transitional housing for women and children at risk of domestic violence. Some estimates show that three million American women are physically abused by their husbands or boyfriends every year. And one in four California children is said to be either a victim of, or a witness to, domestic violence.

For more information on domestic violence, go to www.kpbs.org/domesticviolence .

Becky's House 2, the YWCA's newest transitional housing program for survivors of domestic violence will open tomorrow (Oct. 11).

The YWCA's 24-hour domestic violence hotline is (619) 234-3164.
