Tom Fudge : Mariachi music is the music we associate most strongly with Mexico. And this weekend, the group called Mariachi Champaña Nevín will perform in Copley Symphony Hall in honor of the Day of the Dead.
Day of the Dead might be called the Mexican answer to Halloween. It does involve dressing up in some pretty scary costumes and many displays of skulls and skeletons. The more serious purpose of the holiday is to remember those who have passed. The celebration takes place this weekend in connection with the Catholic holy days of All Saints and All Souls.
Mariachi Champaña Nevín will perform a Day of the Dead concert on Sunday, November 2, 2008, at Copley Symphony Hall .
