San Diego's were representatives split on the landmark financial bailout package. Peter Granitz reports from Capitol Hill.
The package was supposed to be bipartisan: All of the San Diego area Republicans opposed the legislation. The bill had support from nearly 60 percent of Democrats. Republicans who opposed the bill outnumbered their colleagues who supported it by nearly two to one.
San Diego republican Darrell Issa opposed the bill. He says that the government doesn't need to intervene. He calls the situation an artificial crisis.
Issa: "The tools are already available at the FDIC and the SEC today to do more than we were going to do here on the floor. They've chosen not to do it."
The bill saw small-government republicans like Issa team with liberal democrats who wanted more protections for homeowners facing foreclosure.
The house planned to adjourn last week to campaign… now they're planning to return after Rosh Hashanah. But it's unsure what will happen: leaders from both parties blamed each other after the vote.
