One Man’s Crusade to End Human Slavery
Monday, January 12, 2009
Maureen Cavanaugh : When we evaluate the march of human history, one of the accomplishments often cited is the end of the practice of slavery. While it's true that most societies no longer openly engage in the buying and selling of human beings, the slave trade continues underground. In fact, my guest today says 27-million people exist in bondage right now...more than in any time in human history.
David Batstone, of the Not for Sale Campaign , will speak at the "Backyard Abolitionist Tour" on Thursday, January 15, at 7 p.m. at the North Coast Calvary Chapel in Carlsbad. More information about human slavery can be found at Slaverymap.org .
- David Batstone , president of Not For Sale, a non-profit organization working to end human slavery around the world. He is also a professor of ethics at the University of San Francisco.
