There's a behind-the-scenes battling brewing over who should be the next San Diego County Sheriff. Who's contending to be the next sheriff, and what kind of political backing do they have in the community?
Gloria Penner: After 14 years as San Diego County Sheriff and about a half century in law enforcement, Bill Kolender is retiring citing his wife's illness. Kolender deserves a break. but the timing has stirred the political gremlins who wonder whether there's another reason for his leaving with 18 months left in his fourth term in elected office. Who's contending to be the next sheriff, and what kind of political backing do they have in the community?
