Singer-songwriter and raconteur Steve Poltz went all the way to Nova Scotia, where he was born, to make his latest album, produced by Canadian indie star Joel Plaskett. Poltz, who was recently awarded "San Diego's Most Influential Artist of the Decade" at the San Diego Music Awards, will perform songs from the new album titled "Dreamhouse" in the KPBS studio. We'll also get the scoop on his big birthday bash at the Belly Up where he'll reunite with The Rugburns.
Steve Poltz's 50th Birthday Bash and CD Release Party takes place Friday night at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach. He'll performing with The Rugburns and Mojo Nixon.
Maureen Cavanaugh: Singer/songwriter Steve Poltz is back in San Diego for a big birthday bash and the release of a new album, Dreamhouse The birthday bash will include a reunion with members of the Indie-rock band The Rugburns, and other artists Steve Poltz has worked with and influenced over the years here in San Diego.
As for the new album, he recorded it in his old hometown of Halifax, Nova Scotia - a trip that included a detour to the ski slopes which really didn't work out too well for him. We'll talk more about the mishap....
