San Diego County has launched a website for people in Carlsbad who want more information on cancer in their community. Some Carlsbad residents believe there's a cancer cluster in the city, but county health officials say that hasn't been determined.

Some people in Carlsbad say there have been an unusually high number of cancer cases in the area.

At a public forum last week, county officials promised they'd look into it.

Dr. Wilma Wooten is the county's public health officer. She says a state agency called the California Cancer Registry will decide whether or not a cluster exists.

"So we are working with community residents from Carlsbad, to collect the information that they are concerned about, and providing that to the California Cancer Registry and they will be analyzing the information," Wooten said.

Wooten adds the registry should make its determination by the end of the month. The county plans to have another public forum to announce the decision.
