Army Spc. Leslie H. Sabo Jr., who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor this week, was inducted into the Pentagon’s Hall of Heroes on Thursday.

Sabo's widow, Rose Mary Sabo-Brown, and his brother George Sabo were both on hand for the induction ceremony, and the unveiling of Sabo's name in the Hall of Heroes.

Sabo had only been in Southeast Asia for five months when his platoon was ambushed near the Se San River in eastern Cambodia on May 10, 1970. The Department of Defense reports Sabo's heroic actions during that battle saved the lives of several of his fellow soldiers:

Immediately preceding his death, he shielded a comrade from an enemy grenade and silenced a machine-gun bunker.
