Iran's Naval leader, Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, said on that country's state-owned television today that he plans to have Iranian warships sailing off the coast of the United States "in the next few years," according to the Associated Press.

The A.P. reports this isn't the first time Iran has threatened to sail its ships in the international waters off the United States.

In addition, UPI quotes Sayyari as saying on Press TV that Iran's national intelligence agency is keeping an eye on U.S. Navy vessels in the Persian Gulf:

The U.S. Navy has been building up its forces in the Persian Gulf in recent months to prevent Iran from closing off the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. officials have expressed concern Iran will shut down the Strait in response to increasing international sanctions prompted by its nuclear program. Much of the world's oil is exported through the Strait.
