California's June ballot won't look anything like last November's special election. That's because only one citizen-sponsored measure has qualified for the June 6th primary. KPBS Reporter Kenny Goldberg has more.
The measure is a universal preschool initiative sponsored by film director Rob Reiner. It would give all four year olds in California free preschool education. That would be paid by an increase in state income tax for people who make more than $400 thousand a year.
Joining the measure will be a library construction bond that the State Legislature placed on the ballot.
This shapes up to be the fewest initiatives in a California election in more than ten years.
But that could change. The governor and the legislature may put more bond measures on the June primary. The deadline to do so is March 10th.
California voters were faced with eight initiatives last November. All of them were defeated.
