Oceanside Museum of Art features paintings from the WPA Era
FDR's Works Projects Administration of the 1930's included a program that financially supported artists, allowing them to produce art while being paid by the government. The program yielded an impressive body of work whose content represents the cultural and political concerns of that time. Bram Dijkstra specializes in work of this era and has curated a show featuring representative works from San Diego collections.
Bram Dijkstra will be giving a lecture tonight, 2/16/06, at 7 pm at the Oceanside Museum of Art.
Guest:
- Bram Dijkstra is Professor Emeritus in the department of literature at UCSD. He's the guest curator of the exhibit: Art of the WPA Era, currently running at the Oceanside Museum of Art.
