An environmental group says California is leading the way on clean energy. KPBS Reporter Ed Joyce has more.

The Apollo Alliance report says California has the country's most ambitious policies to
increase the use of renewable energy sources.

The group cites the recent two-point-nine-billion-dollars spent by the California
Public Utilities Commission to create solar energy as a model the nation should
follow.

Alliance President Jerome Ringo says President Bush should adopt California's
leading-edge strategies to develop clean energy and good jobs.

Besides California, the report says twenty-two states have standards to increase the share of electric power from renewable resources like wind and sun.
The Alliance works to reduce U.S. dependence on foreign oil. Ed Joyce, KPBS News.
