The next generation of science fiction talent hit San Diego this week for the Writers and Illustrators of the Future Awards , a competition to find the most creative sci-fi minds. This premiere contest was created by L. Ron Hubbard in 1983 to discover writers and illustrators who had previously gone unnoticed. Host Tom Fudge discusses the history of science fiction and how it is influenced by current events.
The awards ceremony will be held at the San Diego Air and Space Museum at 2001 Pan American Plaza on Friday, August 18th at 8pm. Professionals and fans are invited to attend and can RSVP to (323) 466-3310.
There will be a book signing from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Friday 19th at the Mysterious Galaxy bookstore at 7051 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. #302.
