Steve Padilla Seeks a Second Term as Chula Vista Mayor
It's getting closer to election time and campaigns everywhere are getting going. Steve Padilla is seeking re-election as mayor of Chula Vista. The incumbent mayor talks about his record and his goals
This year there is no mayoral election in San Diego County’s largest city. But the county’s second largest city is looking at a tough fight for the mayor’s office. The incumbent mayor of Chula Vista is Steve Padilla, and his run for re-election is not a cake-walk. In fact, he came in second in the primary election, out polled by challenger Cheryl Cox. Cox is a member of the local school board, and she is Padilla’s opponent in next month’s general election.
Padilla, a Democrat, says Chula Vista is doing very well economically and he’s served the city well. But political opponents question Padilla’s use of public money, including his decision to hire a personal bodyguard at city expense. Mayor Steve Padilla discusses his goals and his record going into the re-election campaign.
