The number of domestic violence cases in this nation is astounding. Estimates range between one and three million women who are physically abused by a husband or boyfriend each year. Yes, restraining orders can be issued. But just how effective are they in preventing further abuse?

A new California law is now on the books designed to offer more protection for abuse victims. Host Gloria Penner talks to the law’s author and the direct of the legal clinic at the Center for Community Solutions.
