The number of domestic violence cases in this nation is astounding. Estimates range between one and three million women who are physically abused by a husband or boyfriend each year. Yes, restraining orders can be issued. But just how effective are they in preventing further abuse?

A new California law is now on the books designed to offer more protection for abuse victims. Host Gloria Penner talks to the lawโ€™s author and the direct of the legal clinic at the Center for Community Solutions.
