Tom Fudge: Baby Boomers are that great American population bulge that seems to get what it wants in this country… if only due to their sheer numbers. Baby boomers changed the culture of youth, with rock and roll and the sexual revolution. Their free-spending habits have changed the way our economy works. And now they appear poised to change retirement.
In fact, who says the baby boomers will even retire, in the traditional sense of the word? Since many of them have saved so little, they may not be able to afford it.
Trying to anticipate what baby boomer retirement will be like is of great interest to policy makers and the marketers of products. We speak with the vice president of an Encinitas advertising agency about the issues facing baby boomers.
