One of the most explosive cases of alleged military misconduct involves Marines from Camp Pendleton accused in the killings of 24 Iraqi civilians in the town of Haditha in 2005. As the Marines await court hearings, Tony Perry, San Diego bureau chief for the Los Angeles Times , is in Haditha with troops from Camp Pendleton’s 1st Marine Expeditionary Force.
