An eclectic group of citizen organizations are calling for a state investigation into police involved shootings in San Diego. Art Cribbs is with the Coalition for Justice.
Cribbs: By the DA's rough estimate there have been 148 police involved shootings in the county in 10 years. And of all of those shootings only two have resulted in something other than a criminal conduct ruling by the district attorney's office.
Cribbs says the group is taking action after several controversial shootings. A football player with the San Diego Chargers was shot by an off-duty cop last year. And there were six shootings of Latino men in Vista -- three of them within five days. The group sent postcards today signed by about 2,000 people to the State Attorney General. County DA Bonnie Dumanis says she supports the idea of an independent investigation.
