Hundreds of state and county officials gathered in Sacramento on Monday to talk about where to house sex offenders when they get out of prison. The summit -- the first of its kind -- was recommended by a task force formed by Governor Schwarzenegger to address the issue.

The Governor told the large crowd that counties and the state must continue working together to alert people when sex offenders move into their community:

Schwarzenegger : The people must know who those people are that come to their community, and they must know what they do, and where they are -- and so this is, I think, one of the important things. We cannot ever allow them to offend again.

The task force talked about managing sex offenders on parole. They also focused on Jessica's Law -- the initiative that passed in November and requires the lifetime GPS monitoring of some sex offenders.
