Alan Ray (Guest Host): Four hundred thousand people, who are not like us, have died savage deaths in some place we'll never see, a place we understand dimly, if at all. Why does anybody care about a place called Darfur? Why does anybody care that people are killing each other there?
The Balkans, Chechnya, Rwadna, Darfur. It seems a never-ending story. The faces may change, but the story does not.
Even President Bush seemed to take notice with an announcement on Tuesday on economic sanctions to end what he called the "genocide" in Darfur, though he called it Dahfur. Honestly, I don't understand what's going on there. I think I should, but it's a tangled mess. There are people who are trying to change all that, trying to end the killing, trying to make it right, trying to help us understand.
