Tom Fudge: Last week, the superintendent of San Diego City Schools left his job. Carl Cohn , who came to San Diego from Long Beach School District, didn't leave town. In fact, he now has a job with San Diego State University. But his fans and supporters in the district were a little miffed that he left his superintendent position two years early. There was about that much time left on his contract.
Cohn left because he said the job was a little more challenging than he expected. Now, the district needs to find a new superintendent . Leading a big city school district is among the toughest jobs in America. San Diego has certainly had its share of high expectations, disappointments, and political fights among parents, administrators and teachers. Ana Tintocalis joins us to talk about what the district is doing to look for a new superintendent, and what kind of superintendent the different parties are looking for.
