Patients File New Objections to San Diego Medical Program

Seventeen low-income adults have filed new objections to the way San Diego County runs a state-mandated program that pays medical bills for people who are uninsured.

Seventeen low-income adults have filed new objections to the way San Diego County runs a state-mandated program that pays medical bills for people who are uninsured.

They say the county illegally excludes many seriously ill patients by setting income requirements too low.

Tuesday's filing is the latest salvo in a three-year battle between a nonprofit legal assistance group and the County Medical Services program.

A judge is expected to rule March 28 on the matter.
