Transit Spokesman Reports On the Sprinters First Week
The diesel-powered Sprinter rail line connecting Oceanside and Escondido completes its first week of operation. How did it perform? We speak with the North County Transit District about ridership numb
Tom Fudge: If you've ever wanted to sprint from Escondido to Oceanside, now you can, even though most people would argue a 53 minute train ride isn't exactly sprinting. The point is there is now a light rail system that links Escondido and Oceanside, and many point along the way. Those in-between points include Palomar College, CSU San Marcos, and the Vista Transit Center Station.
Building the Sprinter required nearly half a billion dollars in funding, and its been in planning for decades. But today, we've actually had a week to try it out.
