Project Director On Documenting San Diego’s Undiscovered Plant Species

Tom Fudge: As you walk through a canyon or in one of San Diego's backcountry parks, do you ever look at a plant and say, "Huh, never seen that before. I wonder what it is?”

If so, you might be just the kind of person the Natural History Museum is looking for. The museum is the organization that puts together the San Diego County Plant Atlas. The Atlas seeks to make a record of all the different kinds of flora that exist in the county.

It's a big job since San Diego County contains more plant biodiversity than any other county in the country. I say the museum might be looking for help from someone like you because they enlist the help of many volunteers as they compile data for the atlas.
