Tom Fudge: This month the Athenaeum Summer Music Festival takes place at the Neurosciences Institute in La Jolla. And one musical feature of the annual festival are performances by Gustavo Romero . He's a virtuoso pianist who grew up in San Diego. He was considered a child prodigy in his early days. In fact, he performed with the New York Philharmonic at the tender age of 13.
Each year, Romero's performances have featured a certain composer. Last year it was Johannes Brahms. The year before that it was Schumann. This year he's branching out a bit. In fact, his performances this year are being called Ten Years, Seven Composers, One Pianist. Gustavo Romero joins me in our performance studio this morning.
