From re-vamping California's courthouses to creating a new license plate, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger continues to wade though the hundreds of bills on his desk. From Sacramento, Marianne Russ has a roundup.
The Governor has until Tuesday to finish signing or vetoing bills.
Governor Schwarzenegger signed a bill aimed at renovating the state's aging courts. The five billion dollar bond measure was written by Democratic Senate Leader Don Perata. It'll pay for about 40 projects statewide. The bond will be funded by increased fines and court fees. In a statement the Governor said the measure would create thousands of jobs for Californians.
Speaking of jobs, he also signed a measure to create a so-called "green collar job council." It's aimed at attracting clean technology companies to the state.
The Governor signed a couple of early childhood education measures. One calls for the development of a ratings system for preschools and other programs for young kids.
The second is aimed at expanding access to pre-school. Schwarzenegger also signed a bill creating a Gold Star Families license plate for families who have lost a loved one in the line of duty.
