Tom Fudge: Today, there's a changing of the guard at San Diego City Hall, as some new office holders take the oath of office. Term limits have sent four councilmembers packing as four new ones take their place. Also, Jan Goldsmith becomes city attorney, having defeated the contentious and controversial Mike Aguirre. And, Mayor Jerry Sanders will take the oath as he begins his second term.
City council positions are technically non-partisan. But the Democrats have gained a substantial majority on the council, which is the result of a slow slide to the political left in the City of San Diego. And, that has something to say about how some of the city's budgetary issues may be addressed in the years to come. Alison St. John joins me to talk about what's to come for city hall.
