SAN DIEGO (CNS) - DUI arrests were down statewide and locally early in the Fourth of July holiday weekend, according to the CHP.
For the reporting period from 6:01 p.m. Wednesday through 6 a.m. today, there were 220 DUI arrests statewide and 16 DUI arrests in San Diego County in 2012, compared with 196 statewide and 14 in San Diego County in 2013.
For the same period, there were 2 DUI fatalities statewide in 2012 compared with 1 in 2013. San Diego County had no fatalities reported for either year during the same time period.
DUI arrests reported are only those made by CHP officers. Fatalities are for all law enforcement agencies.
The CHP investigates all crashes on freeways and on all roads in unincorporated areas.
