Valley Center Author Found Guilty Of Practicing Medicine Without License
Thursday, February 4, 2016
A Valley Center author has been convicted of providing bogus medical treatments to terminally ill patients.
Robert Young wrote "The pH Miracle: Balance Your Diet, Reclaim Your Health," along with other books.
He was tried on seven counts of practicing medicine without a license.
After a two month trial and two weeks of deliberations, the jury Wednesday found Young guilty on two counts, acquitted him of a third and deadlocked on six remaining charges, which included two counts of grand theft.
Young charged as much as $2,000 a day for his services. The 63-year old promoted practices that he said could neutralize alkaline and acidity in the bloodstream.
His defense claimed the charges were an attack on alternative medicine.
Young now faces more than three years in prison.
